Energy efficient solution for Honeytop Speciality Foods

When Honeytop Speciality Foods, the leading supplier of naan and flatbreads, needed a new compressed air system installed at their factory, they turned to Airchannel because of their ability to design, supply and install energy efficient compressed air solutions.

Airchannel was awarded the contract to supply and install the air package, which included Transair aluminium pipe work, an air dryer package, 2000 litre vertical air receiver, automatic drains and an oil / water separator.

Airchannel was also asked to install and commission two compressors, which were purchased at auction, a CompAir 475SR variable speed compressor which still had some remaining CompAir warranty, (this could be transferred), and a CompAir (Broomwade) 6040N, rotary screw compressor.  

CompAir’s model 475SR, is a 75 Kw rotary screw air compressor, variable speed drive with a switch reluctance drive and motor both of which are exclusive to the CompAir range. The unit can reduce power consumption by providing exactly the compressed air required, therefore saving energy and reducing the money spent on power costs for plants with varying air demands. 

Transair 63 mm advanced lightweight aluminium pipe work system was selected over other traditional pipe-work systems as it is energy efficient, therefore saving on running costs, it is also easily modified, and quick to install and is blue powder coated which conforms to guidelines for compressed air systems. 

Because untreated compressed air is saturated with water vapour and contaminated with oil droplets and dirt particles, Honeytop requested a CompAir F149T thermal mass air dryer to remove moisture from the compressed air and combined with CompAir pre and after filtration, purifies the air prior to use. 

Automatic drain valves which mechanically drain any condensate, were installed at strategic points to pump any condensate into the oil / water separator where it is separated for safe disposal.
